There must be something in the air. Perhaps it's the hope of spring, but whatever it is I have been finding some great pieces lately. I think spring cleaning has finally commenced and the thrift stores runneth over with goodies! You know what they say: "One man's (or in my case, woman's) trash is another man's treasure.
Here are a few of my recent finds:

Snow Day... Again :(
When is spring going to arrive? Enough of this white stuff already. The only good part is that I get to work on small projects indoors. I made a few more "quote" frames with buttons and a button tree. I had to venture out to Walmart, yes THEY were open, to get fabric glue to adhere the buttons to the fabric. The tree turned out great! A bit abstract, but sHaBby and fun :)
This was Route 3 on the way to Walmart. Yuck!

Luckett's Design House
Yesterday my mother and I took a trip up to Lucketts to see their Design House. I have heard so much about the place but have never been, so we hopped in the car on what had to be the coldest day this year and made the 1hr 45min drive. It was beautiful! I loved how everything was very clean and bright. The colors were neutral and the design elements were very upscale beach-ey. Below are some photos:

I started working on this vintage Leopold desk on Saturday. This piece will be going in our office which at the moment is nothing but a catch all for boxes we have yet to unpack. I won this desk at an auction last month. $22 What a bargain! It is solid wood and sturdy.
The desk was in really great shape, I just sanded the drawers and top down to bare wood so that I could restain them and roughed up the body to better hold the paint.
Once I taped him off I got to applying the first coat APC's Uncle Sam which is a bright white. Then I followed up with ASCP in CoCo.

There will be another Market on March 22-23, so if you missed this one you'll have another opportunity view and purchase one of a kind painted furniture and home decor. Below are some photos of this weekend's event:

Vintage Dresser Continued... (and a new project)
I have nearly finished painting the body of the dresser and the broken leg is fixed. Just needed to drill a hole and affix a wooden dowel. I'll give it about a day to set and the. Paint the leg.
Meanwhile I am continuing with the aging process.
I am also starting on this mirror I found last week for $4. It is solid wood and made in Mexico. More on it's transformation tomorrow.

Vintage Desk by Butler Furniture Co.
This is a current project that I am working on. I bought it for a great price on Craigslist. It was in pretty good shape save for a few little issues. One of the legs had broken off and some of the wood appliqué around the bottom was loose. A peg, some wood glue and a nail gun and she's ready for paint.
I used CeCe Caldwell's Chesapeake Blue on the drawers and then experimented with an aging technique. (On the right.)
Here's another shot of the drawers nearly dry. I like how they turned out. They give the piece a cottagey look. Now to find the perfect pulls.
Tomorrow I will post more on the progress of this piece. It will be for sale at the Deep Creek Vintage Market on February 22-23.
